The Association of Nantwich Bands is a registered charity (1215383) dedicated to promoting participation in wind band music in Nantwich and the surrounding area.
Our mission is to provide high-quality musical opportunities for woodwind, brass and percussion players of all ages and backgrounds, creating ensembles that bring people together through a shared enjoyment of music.
The Association currently comprises Nantwich Concert Band and is preparing to launch the Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band in September 2026. Together, these ensembles provide both an open community band and a performance-focused symphonic wind band, ensuring there are opportunities for musicians seeking different styles of rehearsal, repertoire and performance.
Whether performing at local events, formal concerts, festivals or special projects, our bands are proud to contribute to the cultural life of Nantwich and beyond.
About Nantwich Concert Band
Nantwich Concert Band (NCB) is a vibrant community wind band bringing together brass, woodwind and percussion players from Nantwich and the surrounding area. Established in 1983, we are proud of our long history of making music for our local community through concerts, community events and outdoor performances.
Under the direction of our Musical Director, Nick Birch, the band performs a varied programme of music designed to be enjoyable, engaging and rewarding for players and audiences alike. Our repertoire ranges from film and stage music to popular favourites, traditional concert band works, marches, and seasonal repertoire.
As our community ensemble, Nantwich Concert Band is open to players of all ages and backgrounds. We do not have a fixed membership limit, and we do not require auditions. Whether you are returning to your instrument after a break, developing your skills, or looking for a friendly and sociable band to play with, you will find a warm welcome at NCB.
The band rehearses every Wednesday evening at Highfields Academy, Nantwich, and performs regularly throughout the year at concerts, community events and seasonal celebrations.

About Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band
The Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band (NSWB) is a new ensemble being launched in September 2026.
Designed for experienced woodwind, brass and percussion players, the Symphonic Wind Band will focus on performing more challenging wind band repertoire and delivering ambitious musical projects and performances.
Under the direction of Musical Director Nick Birch, the ensemble will perform a broad range of advanced repertoire, including substantial contemporary wind band works, concert repertoire, festival programmes, film music and commissioned compositions.
The Symphonic Wind Band will rehearse weekly on Monday evenings during term-time and will present a programme of concerts, festival performances and special projects throughout the year.
There are no auditions. Membership and vacancies will be managed by the Musical Director and Committee to ensure appropriate instrumentation and ensemble balance, helping to create the strongest possible musical experience for all members.
Recruitment for the inaugural membership of the Nantwich Symphonic Wind Band will begin during Summer 2026, with the first rehearsal planned for September 2026.
